European Trade Union Confederation: European mobilization

Translated Friday 11 June 2010, by Gene Zbikowski and reviewed by Gene Zbikowski

European day of action on September 29.

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) will organize a European day of action on September 29 to coincide with a meeting of the European Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN). ETUC announced that “As European Governments move collectively to slash public expenditure, (including jobs, pay and pensions), while the European economy is fragile and vulnerable to renewed recession, the ETUC is set to mobilize a collective trade union response. This will be centered on a big demonstration in Brussels.” The actions “can include protest stoppages, demonstrations, meetings with Government finance ministers etc.”
