Pierre Laurent: “Unite behind an alternative plan to exit the crisis”

Translated Wednesday 1 July 2015, by Adrian Jordan

“Unfortunately, the PS congress is about to embark on a plan of support for government policy which, each day, amplifies the social and political malaise of the country. However, the vast majority of people on the left and socialist voters do not identify with these government decisions. Tens of thousands of them, inside and outside of the PS, have been left by the wayside. I hope that the Socialist Party congress does not disregard this important fact. For my part, I will continue, ardently, to address myself to all those who identify with socialist values to show them there is another way for the left by working with the Communists, Left Front and Ecologists. Because uniting behind a new left plan, alternative to government policy, is the only way to definitively exit the political crisis which is currently overwhelming us.

Pierre Laurent, national secretary of the PCF (French Communist Party)
