A new chapter on relations between the international community and Iran was decisively opened on Saturday evening in Vienna, when the nuclear accord came into effect. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) officially declared that Iran has implemented all measures required under the agreement relating to its nuclear activities, made on 14 July 2015 in Austria with the P5 + 1 group - namely the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (China, France, USA, UK and Russia) plus Germany. Europe and the US lifted economic sanctions (except for the Iranian missile program). Several hours before the official end of the embargo, Teheran announced the release of five Americans, amongst whom were Jason Rezaian, Tehran bureau chief for The Washington Post, and pastor Saeed Abedini, as part of a prisoner exchange program with the United States.
