Two Norwegian doctors who have just spent 10 days in the Gaza Strip yesterday made public their suspicions that the Israeli army is using a little-known weapon called DIME (Dense Inert Metal Explosive) capable of creating a very powerful blast over a small area. « It’s a new generation of explosives, very powerful in small amounts, that detonate with extreme power and dissipate this power to a zone of 5 to 10 metres », one of the two doctors, Mads Gilbert, told journalists at Oslo’s Gardernoen airport. Mads Gilbert, aged 61, and his colleague, Erik Fosse, aged 58, were sent to the Gaza Strip on 31 December by the Norwegian humanitarian organisation NORWAC (Norwegian Aid Committee). « We have seen a certain number of extremely brutal amputations […] without injuries from shrapnel, which we strongly suspect have been caused by this type of weapon. Which leads us to say that Gaza is very probably being used as a testing ground for new weapons. »
